Tuesday Update

Its been sometime since we have updated on Jordan so we wanted to make sure to get  you all some information today.

Last week ended with Jordan continuing to push through Physical and Occupational Therapy. However one of Jordan's lifelong friends Tony Flores suffered some tragedy early Thursday morning with a house fire that took the life of his two young children Cruz and Ella, Jordan received the news later that morning and wanted to take some time to reflect on the events that had taken place. He was able to talk to Tony which helped and Jordan knows that he needs to remain focused and continue to work hard so he can come home and be the best he can be for his friends.  So we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Tony and Stephanie and their families, we are here for you all at this time!  If you want to help this family you can do so at : Cruz and Ella Fund

Going into this week Jordan's headaches continue to linger on and off but are getting better. He has been working on his flexibility and strengthening, and getting more and more time in the wheelchair around the hospital grounds. He has now been fitted for a custom wheelchair which should take 3-4 weeks to build, until then he uses a chair at the hospital. His nourishment & eating is not where he would like, but he has completed a swallowing test and did well, so he should be able to eat regular food by the end of the week. The hole from the trach is still healing, but it should be closed by the end of next week; Jordan refers to it as BIG!  His attitude is great and he continues to want to do more, but is restricted by his strength and headaches.

Spoke with him on the phone earlier and he is now working on his wheel chair task list, which includes wheelies and 360'. His therapist has commented on what a Rockstar Jordan is with how much he is already able to do, with the time he has been in this particular chair that does not quite fit him perfectly. Right now is able to go half way around the gym on a wheelie and was able to hold a wheelie for 60 seconds twice.  He wasn't able to get the 360 in today but he did try, the balance with the chair he is in was his struggle, but I am sure Jordan will have them down in no time!

He sounds determined and excited to be at Craig, he has already been thinking of a chair for off road and doing the research for it. He was able to check out the weld shop they have at Craig and he showed the instructor some of his own work and left the instructor speechless.

So overall Jordan has been doing great and his attitude is in the right place!

As far as the efforts go for Jordan's home, Pooker Stade and Paul Harbauer have been leading the effort at the house. In the short time they have been able to get the additon to Jordans room framed and the trusses up. They have coordinated getting most of the material and labor donated however more is still needed to assist in the project. At this moment exterior painting is needed, so if you can assist with that please contact Brittany and she will get you in touch with Paul to coordinate.  Brittany (702) 325-9623

Wednesday Update from Craig- Trach is out!!

As of this morning Jordan was able to get the trach removed and has now been learning how to transfer himself from the bed to the chair.
Jordan after the Trach was removed

He can now focus more on the physical work that is needed, as the trach caused some limitations, so his days will be filled with more therapy sessions.

Last week he was struggling with frequent headaches that caused him to end therapy sessions early however the doctors scheduled a MRI to see if there was any spinal fluid leakage that was causing the headaches.  He was not able to complete the MRI so it was rescheduled, however Jordan feels the headaches are stemming from dehydration. The doctors do now feel the same way and will preform the MRI again if the headaches protists. He has been trying to get down water with the trach, which added some difficulty, he was able to get down 26oz. on Tuesday which seemed to help him get through the day.
The next step is working on completing a feeding test so he can get more nutrients in his body himself, hoping to increase his energy level.

Jordan is positive in his recovery and knows what he needs to do. So we hope to update you further with continued progress from Jordan.

THANK YOU ALL FOR THE SUPPORT IN JORDAN

Thrusday update from Craig

Jordan once again has a lengthly agenda for his day. He also had the transition of friends yesterday from  Blake Richardson to Blake Stouard.

GREAT NEWS IS that Jordan's Trach was reduced to the smallest one before going without. HE IS NOW BREATHING ON HIS OWN. He is adjusting to the freedom of no tubes but needs to take it slow as to not over do it. He still gets some light headiness and headaches when in certain positions and is using tylenol when needed. His chest X-ray has come back clear but shows some heavy mucus. Once the mucus dissipates the Trach will be completely removed.

He is starting to work on his speech with the talk box, it still somewhat irritating but he is getting much better at learning how to talk again.
He was given a power wheel chair and is adapting to its use today. He has some tough moments, which were expected but he is working through them. He is still gets tired easily but works hard on staying focused.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for following Jordan's progress.

Wednesday Update from Craig

Jordans day was spent getting acclimated to his daily routines. He continued with his breathing and respiratory treatments and kept off the ventilator for 12 hours. He did some physical theraphy but he is just getting started and more will be added as he progress' He is still hopeful to be off ventilator by end of week and remove the thrach. by early next week. Today he has doctor sessions to discuss his overall progress and psych assessment. There is research study time, physical therapy as well as occupational therapy. Today his goal is to go for all day off the ventilator. He is really keeping himself in a good place mentally as well as focused on Physical Theraphy.

Craig Update for Monday Morning.

At only 80 hours into Craig he has progressed very well. He is getting into a wheel chair two times a day for about an hour. He has been weaning off the ventilator and currently he is on 4hours off twice a day, tomorrow they are going for 8 hours off twice a day. He gets tired easily but continues to push himself. His attitude is positive and he understands he has a tough road ahead. Jordan and Blake work very well together, Blake makes sure he gets all the care needed and more, as well as helping Jordan focus on whats currently needed. They are doing some sensitivity and other testing today so we will let you know of the outcome of those test.

Over the weekend Jordan got to talk for some moments here is a video of Jordan talking wth Blake :

Tim with Jordan when he was able to get into the wheel chair over the weekend.

Saturday update from Craig

Craig has started doing some of the initial testing to evaluate Jordans medical condition. A lung culture was taken and we should have results back in a day. They are wanting to make sure there is nothing new and if the previous pneumonia has cleared.

Jordan is pushing himself and the staff to a faster pace then they would like but they are going with his pace so far. Last night he wanted to try to breath on his own again and he pushed it to 30 minutes and was very comfortable with the time.

Jordan was able to get into a wheel chair this afternoon for a little bit and looked comfortable however he did get tired which was expected after being in a hospital bed for multiple weeks now.

Progress is good so far, so hopefully we can get the trac out by the end of the week.

Friday update

Jordan is doing amazing at Craig, so far the staff has all been great! . He has already seen mulitpile therapists for all the different areas they work on with him.
They have started exercises to help him start breathing without the trac and are increasing the amount of time each treatment to work him up slowly to being in his own again so they can remove the trac.

They released the cuff on the trac today for a few minutes to allow him to talk and they asked him what he wanted to talk about and his words were "I wana talk about race cars because they are fast" (censored that slightly there was some cuss words added)

So for his first full day at Craig they have already exceeded our expections and are taking good care of Jordan.

Wednesday update- Last Day at UMC

We a happy to announce Jordan has been authorized to go to rehab at Craig Hospital. However he will be transported
first thing in the morning. We know this is all fast however if he didn't get transferred tomorrow he would have to wait till next week.

He will be transported by air ambulance at 8:30am tomorrow which they will begin preparing him for transport at 8:00am. We are planning on sending him off as they take him outside so if you want to join us you are welcome too! We are meeting near the cafe at 7:45am
