Jordan Update: Trach surgery number two

As most of you know that have seen or spoke to Jordan since he has been home  but for those of you who haven't  his trach hole opened the Saturday after he came home from Craig. We where able to find a doctor that would take him in as a patient that Monday and they scheduled the surgery for their earliest date available for the 3rd which was today.

He has been trying to take it easy since the hole opened, due to it making breathing much more difficult and easier to get infected.

He had surgery first thing this morning and got home around 11:30am. He is in alot of pain but hoping that this go around the hole remains closed so he can move on from the trach hole complications.

Thank you to everyone that has supported him throughout this time. He is looking forward to getting his truck dialed in for him to drive once he is healed and getting back to buisness.

He is home!!!

Well they left Craig Hospital yesterday around 10am and wanted to drive straight through to get home, they made it to Las Vegas around 9:30pm.

He is getting settled in, there are a few things left to be done at the house which will be done by the end of day Friday. But  he is able to use everything he needs.

It's great to have him home to get things moving forward and start working on his long list of things he wants to do.

Coming home tomorrow

Jordan's trach repair went very well. He was in no pain after surgery. However he is having headaches and nausea from the medicine.

Tomorrow is the day Jordan gets discharged from Craig and they start the drive back home to Las Vegas. Kevin Kroyer and Blake Stouard will be making the drive home with Jordan. They should be back in Las Vegas by Friday sometime.

Jordan's house is pretty much complete, adding the small finishing touches now.

We will let you know once he is home and settled.

A little over a week till Jordan comes home

Well it's been awhile since our last update, but Jordan has been working hard on his progress.

Jordan has been working on his transfers and has learned most of his transfers on his own now, so he can independently do what he wants to do at the hospital now.

He has been keeping busy with his theraphy schedule as well as his weekend schedule with family and friends.

The Davis' made a pit stop on their way home to see Jordan.

He was able to pass his drivers test for driving a vehicle with hand controls. So he is looking forward to driving again once he is home, they are working on a getting a for newer truck for Jordan and having it ready for him to drive once he is home.

He was able to spend some time down in the engineering shop and talk more with Craig's Engineer who learned how much knowledge Jordan has and wanted Jordan to teach him more about some of the machinery he has.  Jordan was able to get in some time on the welder again.  He is getting used to the hand control and is already looking into ways to perfect it!

This past week Jordan and Bryan Moore were able to catch a Rockies game.

He has been able to get out of the hospital a lot more in the past couple weeks which helps a lot.

His trach hole has not yet closed, it should have by now. So this has led the doctors to go the route of plastic surgery to close it. He is currently scheduled to have the surgery on the 31st. He still has the scheduled discharge date of Aug 6th but that may change based on his surgery recovery time to the 7th as a discharge date.

Jordan has decided he would like to travel home by car, so he should be back in Las Vegas by the 9th at the lastest.
He is looking forward to coming home and getting life back to normal.

His house is getting rather close to being ready for Jordan they are working on the finishings inside at the moment.

We are excited to have Jordan coming  home and helping him get things back to normal. He is already looking at attending the Vegas to Reno race the following weekend.

We will update you all on how the trach hole closure surgery goes.

Thanks for following Jordan's progress.

Week 4 at Craig- One Month

Its been one month since Jordan was transported here to Craig, and the progress so far has been amazing. Just this Wednesday he was transferred to the East wing at Craig, where the patients get more of a independent living situation. He now has a private room with  a small living/dining quarters alongside his bed. He is still in a hospital bed but hoping to switch to a double bed early next week to help make things alittle more comfortable and normal for him.

He had a busy class week, that included Physical and Occupational therapy, as well as mat classes and wheel chair class. Jordan has been able to pick up using the wheel chair rather quickly and is doing mostly everything without assistance from staff.

On Thursday he was able to talk with the Engineer tech here, who is also living with a spinal cord injury. He helped him talk through Jordan going back & working on the creeper again so he can continue to work on trucks and of course that lead them into talking about trucks, motors and racing which Jordan was happy to do.
Jordan During Power Up Class

Jordan had the day off from class' friday to celebrate the holiday, which was a good thing as he had a full load of friends come spend some the weekend with him. As well as getting a surprise visit from Steve Strobel which lead to talking about Trophy Trucks, Trophy Trucks and some more Trophy Trucks. Jordan wasn't complaining at all about that. We were able to have a nice bbq for everyone and finished the night off on the parking lot roof watching the fireworks.

BBQ for the 4th

Jordan and Pete having some fun

Rooftop fireworks show

On weekends there aren't any classes, so we are getting ready to head outside and enjoy this Colorado weather. Jordan is looking forward to going home so he can start working again, but he knows he still has some more things to learn here at Craig. He is expected to be leaving Craig August 6th.

So one month down and one to go!
HE THANKS YOU ALL for your support and generosity through this time!

Tuesday Update

Its been sometime since we have updated on Jordan so we wanted to make sure to get  you all some information today.

Last week ended with Jordan continuing to push through Physical and Occupational Therapy. However one of Jordan's lifelong friends Tony Flores suffered some tragedy early Thursday morning with a house fire that took the life of his two young children Cruz and Ella, Jordan received the news later that morning and wanted to take some time to reflect on the events that had taken place. He was able to talk to Tony which helped and Jordan knows that he needs to remain focused and continue to work hard so he can come home and be the best he can be for his friends.  So we would like to extend our deepest condolences to Tony and Stephanie and their families, we are here for you all at this time!  If you want to help this family you can do so at : Cruz and Ella Fund

Going into this week Jordan's headaches continue to linger on and off but are getting better. He has been working on his flexibility and strengthening, and getting more and more time in the wheelchair around the hospital grounds. He has now been fitted for a custom wheelchair which should take 3-4 weeks to build, until then he uses a chair at the hospital. His nourishment & eating is not where he would like, but he has completed a swallowing test and did well, so he should be able to eat regular food by the end of the week. The hole from the trach is still healing, but it should be closed by the end of next week; Jordan refers to it as BIG!  His attitude is great and he continues to want to do more, but is restricted by his strength and headaches.

Spoke with him on the phone earlier and he is now working on his wheel chair task list, which includes wheelies and 360'. His therapist has commented on what a Rockstar Jordan is with how much he is already able to do, with the time he has been in this particular chair that does not quite fit him perfectly. Right now is able to go half way around the gym on a wheelie and was able to hold a wheelie for 60 seconds twice.  He wasn't able to get the 360 in today but he did try, the balance with the chair he is in was his struggle, but I am sure Jordan will have them down in no time!

He sounds determined and excited to be at Craig, he has already been thinking of a chair for off road and doing the research for it. He was able to check out the weld shop they have at Craig and he showed the instructor some of his own work and left the instructor speechless.

So overall Jordan has been doing great and his attitude is in the right place!

As far as the efforts go for Jordan's home, Pooker Stade and Paul Harbauer have been leading the effort at the house. In the short time they have been able to get the additon to Jordans room framed and the trusses up. They have coordinated getting most of the material and labor donated however more is still needed to assist in the project. At this moment exterior painting is needed, so if you can assist with that please contact Brittany and she will get you in touch with Paul to coordinate.  Brittany (702) 325-9623
